My cousin died yesterday..it's all so strange

Got told last night my cousin had died (he is 35 lives with mum and brother).
Seen him Christmas Day absolutely fine.
Got told from someone in the street he fell down the stairs in his house.
The police are still at the house today, nobody is in as they had to leave and nobody allowed in.
I'm in shock ..is it normal for police to still be there?

hello. sorry for your loss
think police are automatically there if it is a sudden death, as they have to determine if there has been any foul play.
my dad died last week at home after having a heart attack. police were there for about three hours, and that was quite a straightforward case as he was elderly and had been unwell for years.
perhaps someone could ask the police how long they might need to. e there? Flowers

Ah right I wasn't sure as it's been 24 hours now.
Can't believe it ..trying to think how could he have fallen.
Whole life ahead of him
So unfair

He could of had a drink and tripped. Could of just tripped, I done it the other day but luckily was holding the bannister loosely and managed to stop myself.

Could be something that will come up in post mortem that caused him to trip such as cardiac arrest etc.

Hopefully you will know more soon to clear up your confusion and allow you to start grieving. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear this. How did he fall down stairs, had he been drinking heavily?

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers
It is normal for the police to be there for a few days in the event of an unattended death (my best friend died 3 years ago just before Christmas and the police were there for days as it was sudden and unexpected).

Sorry for your loss Flowers

When my dd died suddenly last year the police were there for days. Different circumstances to your cousin as she found outside. The area cordoned off to gather evidence.
There was also a post mortem carried out which is normal when the death is sudden or unexpected.
Take Care.

He had been in hospital a couple of years ago with liver problems due to alcohol.
They told him to stop drinking.
He didn't ..last night we found out he got out of bed, collapsed and fell down the stairs ..assuming now it was liver failure.
