Bereavement

2 years ago today my life changed forever...

My darling husband went to work and never came home. His boss popped round and said he was unwell, I went to the hospital expecting to find him in a bed moaning about it but a young doctor walked up to me and I just knew.
He had literally dropped dead. It's been 2 years...in about 15 minutes.....and I have to get through a day remembering every little detail- it seems like yesterday - I miss him every single minute of the day.

I don't think you ever stop missing someone you loved. You just deal with it better. Try to think back to the good times. I am sure he would not want you to be unhappy.Flowers

I'm sorry that your husband died, very suddenly too.
A shocking thing,for you all.
I'm guessing that you are still in shock and disbelief.
The first year is often a blur of tears, second year more tears and less people who remember.
Do you have support around you?
Being a widow can be isolating, I was widowed, something that really helped me was the charity Widowed and young, WAY for people widowed under 50.
There are quite a few Widows on MN so don't feel alone.
Do you want to tell us about him?

He was my world- we had been married over 30 years - he was my rock when I had cancer- I was actually on sick leave when it happened - I had had a scare and ended up in hospital- I was due to return to work. The night before he died we were talking about all our plans for the future. Just had my first grandchild and feel so cheated that he won't be here. If he walked back in the bedroom tonight I would just say where have you been as it still seems like yesterday when I saw him. I just want to speak to him for one more time.

It's just awful. My dad went so quickly. Heart attack. Mum went tomake him a snack. Went into lounge and he'd gone.

Dentdelion I am so sorry both for what you've lost and the way it happened. It must have been the most colossal shock.

It's been six months for me, but my husband was at home so I witnessed it all from the initial complaining of a terrible pain, to the paramedics battling to revive him. That made it a little easier, I think, because I began to realise during the 40 minutes they were there that he wasn't going to survive.

I know what you mean about it seeming like yesterday. I can't really believe he isn't just going to come through the door, when I hear a car pull up outside there is still the expectation that it's him coming home.

I have a 3 year old grandson and a year old granddaughter and it hurts me sometimes to know that he won't see them grow up and that they will not know him. I understand that you feel cheated of the experience of enjoying your grandchildren together.

Sorry, I'm wittering on in what is probably a very unhelpful manner - it's just that your thread touched a chord in me and I just wanted to say that you're not alone.

My thoughts are with you. Flowers
