Bereavement

DH is dying

I don't even know what topic to put this in. My DH had a brain haemorrhage yesterday morning, the doctors have said it's not survivable. He's 60 years old and my best friend as well as my husband, we've been married for 23 years. I was sat at the bedside in ICU yesterday thinking that I wasn't going to post on mumsnet, even though like a lot of us I spend quite a bit of time here and feel like part of the community, but at 3 o'clock in the morning when you're all alone it seems like a good idea.
I got sent home from the hospital 'to try to get some sleep'.

You are in my prayers. I'm so sorry. I can't imagine what you're going through, but you and your children are in my prayers.

Please remember to take care of yourself. And don't be afraid to ask anybody around you for help and support.

Are they with you? We're here.

Do you have decisions about organ donation to make?

You must have things you want to say to him before he goes.

Are there other practicalities that need decisions?

It must be such a shock. Tell us if it helps.

I'm so very sorry, your mind must be all over the place...

Have the doctors given you any indication of what to expect? Do you have someone there who can hold your hand and help you through this op? I hope so.
Keep posting on here if it helps you, I'm sure you will get lots of support. Will be thinking of you Flowers

It is nearly midday here in Australia and I will be at the computer for the next few hours. More than happy to hold your hand through the night. I am so sorry for the terrible place you find yourself in. Sending you a virtual hug.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Mumnetters are all over the world (I'm in Australia), so there's always someone 'here'. Thanks

I tried to roll over and go back to sleep but failed. I've slept from 10-3.
Maybe I should go for a shower now and see if I can sleep again after.

What a terrible shock OP, too sudden to take on board.

There will be many people thinking of you today, not just the ones who post, but you will know that. Flowers

So sorry for you Flowers Brew

Hope your family are close to you for the next little while. In NZ, so often awake and posting at odd hours if you need company.

I'm expecting that they will confirm there's no brain activity in the morning. Decisions, I guess.
