First Fathers Day without Daddy

My husband died suddenly on 14th May so today is the first Fathers Day without him for DS 8 and DD almost 5. I wanted to cry from the minute I woke up and am crying while I write this. It is so unfair!!!!!! He was the very best of men and a wonderful Daddy. We are going to friends for lunch and planning to release lots of balloons over the river. DD has just come in with one of the messages she wants to attach to the balloons (she of course is very excited about the whole "ceremony" of it!). Sometimes I think my heart will break :0(

Big hugs my love x

It is so so unfair :(

I hope being with your friends helps you all a bit.

I'm a big old grown up and lost my Dad (suddenly) 3 years ago and it's bloody hard - little children shouldn't have to be going through this and neither should you.
x

Very sorry for your sad loss. I hope you and the children find some comfort in releasing the balloons and then being in the company of your friends. The first of any special days are always very poignant.

Just wanted to say I am thinking of you: I lost my stepdad in July, and I had been doing better but father´s day has just set me off. I think the baloons idea is beautiful. Hope the sun shines for you x

This is the third FD without my wonderful DH. My DC and I went to our beach hut and watched the sunrise. Then we left flowers and paddled and in his memory went home and ate bacon sarnies! It is a terrible journey but eventually you will be able to remember what a joy it was to know such a man, it is still painful but more bearable. Take care.

oh hunni i totally understand... my partner died suddenly too at xmas 2008 leaving behind 3 kids..... it was the darkest time of my life, one i can never get over. i still remember pleading with the doc offering to spoonfeed him forever as long as he got to stay with his kids. Sad
i agree its just so UNFAIR Sad

fathers day is still a very solemn day for us 4 years on but its abit more bearable now. it helps to talk about him, focus more on the happy memories and get the kids involved. i let them choose a lantern for his tree, write a card to hang to which they can write messages in for him. you never get over it, but you learn to live with it and make the best of the situation when your ready.

massive hugs hun, feel free to rant on here whenever Thanks

Can't begin to know what you are feeling, being widowed at such a young age, but your children will learn from you what a lovely person he was, the little ones themselves are a lasting reminder of him. Take care.
