feel a bit weird posting on here and against all the miscarriage threads etc this seems very trivial but am feeling a bit

Just got a call to say my Nan has just died. She was 104 so she got a good deal. Just a bit sad thats all.

Thats sad poppy, it's just as sad as the m/c threads.

Thinking of you

NotAnOtter Tue 16-May-06 21:41:37

Sorry to hear that Poppies -its understandable that you're sad. My Gran died last year and although she'd had a long and happy life its still sad accepting that you won't see them again isn't it

hunkercaribou Tue 16-May-06 21:44:32

Oh sweetheart

104 is amazing, but I know it's small comfort when you lose someone you love that they "had a good innings".

Thinking of you and your family x x x x

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads Tue 16-May-06 21:45:17

104 - wow! My grandmother died earlier in the year, it was sad as she was one of the last of that generation of family. My grandad's brother came to the funeral and was distraught. Of course it's sad, even if its "right" in the scheme of things.

JanH Tue 16-May-06 21:49:33

Very sad for you, poppies Grandmothers are wonderful people. My MIL is 83 this year, my kids love her to bits, I hate to think of this coming to them one day.

retailtherapist Tue 16-May-06 21:49:48

So sorry poppies. No loss is trivial. Big hugs x

poppiesinaline Tue 16-May-06 21:50:31

wow, so many people have posted! Thanks everyone. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Feel really sorry for my mum. She must be very sad. My mum is 76. Can you imagine having your mum around for 76 years!!

mykidsmum Tue 16-May-06 21:51:07

Loss is all relative, sending you and your family lots of love xxx

supakids Tue 16-May-06 21:52:52

Wow 104! What a super woman. Sorry to hear this though.

ComeOVeneer Tue 16-May-06 21:52:58

Not trivial at all. so sorry for your loss. A sympathies to your mother too. I hope those 104 years were good ones for your nan. Imagine all the things she must have seen. WOW.

threebob Tue 16-May-06 21:54:22

104 year old dying is not trivial at all. It must have seemed as if she could live forever.

I am sorry for your loss.

poppiesinaline Wed 17-May-06 09:27:39

again thanks everyone. It did seem like she would go on forever! And up until about 4 weeks ago she was perfectly fine. Still had all her marbles .

I know - she has seen two World Wars (lost her father in the 1st World War who also died on 16th May!).

snuffy143 Wed 17-May-06 09:35:28

I feel for you - my Grandad is 92 and still very active but I am desperate when I think he might not be around forever. My DD (7) and DS (4) love him to pieces and he spoils them rotten! So i think you have every right to be sad - I don't think the 'good innings' thing is much comfort. I still want my Da forever!

fairyjay Wed 17-May-06 09:41:25

When you love someone, whatever age you lose them it's too soon.

Thinking of you.

geekgrrl Wed 17-May-06 09:41:37

sorry poppies.

My granddad died 9 years ago and I still miss him tons. I really wish he could have met my children.

Glad you obviously had a lovely relationship with your Nan - it is sad when a loved one dies, even when they're 104.

cadbury Wed 17-May-06 09:44:00

I'm so sorry poppies. I lost my Nan in January and I still can't get used to it. I can hear her voice in my head even now.

Look after yourself. Do give me a shout on MSN if you fancy a chat. Thinking of you and your family. xxxx

cadbury Thu 18-May-06 09:52:15

How are you doing Poppies?

Angsthase Thu 18-May-06 10:33:46

Really feel for you Poppies. I lost my gran 2 years ago and I still get sad about it sometimes. She was 97 so also had so to say a very good innings.

I thought I was prepared for her to go at any time (due to her age and frailty) but it was still a shock because she'd always been there and she was fab.

Grandparents rock.

lucykate Thu 18-May-06 10:36:32
