Dream that has shaken me

My Dad died in 1998, October 9th. Three nights ago I had this horrible dream that has knocked my for six. It was very clear and I was at a work thing where where we had to go an collect a ticket to pick up our parents (weird I know!) when I went to get my ticket I was told that he was dead and everyone started to laugh at me. The worst part was that it felt like I was being told this for the first time, I was so upset and I woke up crying, my heart pounding and I could harldy breathe. I had to go downstairs and open the back door and really try to control my breathing. I was so sweaty. I feel taumatise by it, like I have been run over.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? 14 year after the event? I have a lot going on family wise, my Step Dad is very ill and being cared for at home and my brother has just got in touch with his step brother after 20 years. So lots of family stuff swirling about in my head which I am sure has messed with my head, which I suppose the dream is related too.

Feel better now I have written it down, but so horrible.

Oh, poor you - it's shocking how much a dream can upset you. I haven't had the same thing but some years ago I had a terrible dream about my twin brother, and couldn't shake this feeling of dread. I ended up having to phone him to make sure he was OK. He was fine, but thought I was barking Smile

Hope you start to feel better soon.

I don't have experience of this, but if you have a lot on with caring for your stepdad then this might have brought about the memories from your father, which may have caused the dream.

Sorry to hear that it upset you so much, hope you manage to have a calm day today x
