Bereavement

Bad news at scan yesterday

RalphGnu · 05/01/2012 11:23

We went to the 20 week scan yesterday morning and found our son's heart had stopped beating at around 17 weeks.

Don't really know what to say, think or feel.

ralph so sorry to here the death of your baby. My baby was stillborn in April last year, we found out during a scan also, I was in labour.

I hope you can find some support on here as I have done, be gentle with yourself.

Oh love :(

There's no right or wrong way to feel and say as much or as little as you like, this is one of those times where you're perfectly entitled to be as self-centred as you like, do/say/think whatever feels right to you.

I lost a baby at 15 weeks, same thing - a scan showed no heartbeat. There was nothing wrong with her physically or gentically and nothing anyone could have done to predict or prevent it but I went through an awful phase of blaming myself, please know there is nothing you did or didn't do that caused this

Oh, Ralph, that is so sad. I am chilled to the bone thinking of your news.
Has the hospital been clear about the next steps?
Do you have real life support?

It is of course no consolation, but so many, many women on these boards have been through similar experiences, you will get tons of informed support here from people who know pretty much how you feel.

How is your DP?

Have you told anhone in RL?

Bug hugs and lots of support.

DP has gone to work and I'm cuddling DS on the sofa. The phone keeps ringing but I'm not answering, because what is there to say? This is all so unreal. My best friend is finishing work early and is coming round this afternoon but I would rather be on my own, although having DS here helps me to keep calm. I'm scared to cry because it will turn into panic. I keep hoping this is a bad dream. When I woke up this morning I forgot for a second and then the reality came flooding in.
