Gp has recommended I talk to CRUSE, any experience??

So mw referred me to gp due to possible anxiety/depression, gp has recomended I speak to CRUSE.

Has anyone any experience of using them? I am not against talking through it all but with dc2 due beginning of sept I'm not sure if I have the energy right now. Mw thinks I need to starting dealing with it now to well I guess she's trying to prevent post natal depression?

Can anyone tell me more about them and if they found them useful. Tia

Yes, the lady i saw from CRUSE literally saved my life. I was in such a bad, dark place after DS1 died, and the only thing that kept me going was knowing that i had a weekly appointment to speak with her.

It really helped because she was completely obective - she didn't know me, wasn't emotionally involved and she had lost a son too so knew what it was like - she wasn't offering platitudes or insincire apologies - i could talk freely and openly.

Yes, I had a friend who saw a cruse counsellor - immensely useful for her, incredibly supportive, a safe space to go and sit, and sob, or laugh, or remember, or talk, and have someone giving her permission to feel just as she wanted to, without having to explain why unless she wanted to.

Very very good idea to give yourself an hour a week to get support/space for you now - and it will be possible to go along with a small baby post September - it could make life much easier in the long run.

Do go I have only heard very good things about them. (Plus do make sure your iron levels etc are okay, you don't want to miss support for physical symptoms because it seems just part of the emotional turmoil now.)

Thanks everyone.

Mummytime, I was convienced the stuff I was experiencing was pg related but irons levels etc all fine. Silly really as quite classic things that I probably would even have picked up myself if I was pg.

Thanks everyone for sharing. I will have a look at the website and try to pluck up the courage to call them after I have started mat leave next week.

Its fine! In a couple of years time you will look back on now and be amazed that you didn't realise how stressed you are. But when you are in the middle it is hard to see the wood for the trees.
