I am dealing with late mum affairs and I have recent sent cq's to siblings and dn. (one sibling passed away). The partner of the sibling who passed away is fonding things tough financially. I don't know whether it would be my place to suggest to dn that maybe they could help their parent out. Obv i don't want to fall out with dn but I know mum would have wanted son-in-law to be helped.

I don't think there is any harm in talking to them about it in a nice way.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Do you mean that you are acting as executor of a will and paying out the legacies to the beneficiaries?

Yes Natters. I hope I did it right. Not an an expertt. Just next of kin/benef.

OK, then I think you should leave well alone. Your job is to distribute the legacies according to the terms of the will, and it is up to the beneficiaries what they do with their inheritance. It really isn't your business to make any such suggestions.
