Mum died two months ago. I thought I was coping quite well. However, over the last couple of weeks I have been struggling. Just feel quite down. Put it down to loss but now not so sure. I think I am now getting hot flushes and periods have been crazy for a year or so. Also having trouble sleeping. Seem to be waking every hour or so.
Now i don't know if my mood is down to loss or hormones. Just wondering what i should say and also what they are likely to recommend.
so really sorry to hear about your mum. i lost my mum nearly two years ago...it does get easier to live with, and you cry less, but it is still hard.
i would go to your gp and tell them what you have told us here. let the gp make the decision as to whether it is grief or hormones. stress can affect the body in odd ways!
Thank you chimchar. I am desperate to go to doctors but its so hard to get an appointment at the right time due to family commitments. Maybe need to get someone to look after dc so I can get this sorted.
Thinking of you. But take heart - my mum died 7 years ago (tomorrow, as it happens) and the sharp pain (which I remember so well) lessens and the memories become far less painful - softer, gentler. And it didn't take 7 years. Chimchar's right - less crying.
Please go to your GP - and don't worry too much about the sleep. I remember many, many very disturbed nights - so many flashbacks to Mum's last days and death - but, again, that gets a whole lot better and eventually you'll sleep through the night and wake up refreshed.
Take lots of good care of yourselfx
