ds has loads of bruises

ds is covered in little bruises. He is nearly 3 and rough and tumbles all over the place. He jumps around, rolls and throws himself about all the time, so I am not surprised.

It just struck me however (after reading another thread) could the nursery he goes to think that this is odd? Are toddlers generally like this (I assumed they are!) I am quite concerned that they might think that we are abusing him now!!

i think you're right, most kids are covered in little bruises. DD has them mostly on her legs. also, most bumps she got at nursery, not at home!

DS is also covered in bruise, especially on his legs.

I know once he goes nursery they can see for themselve what he is like and will see why he is covered in bruises!

Its the bruises in unusual places that would concern the nursery (ie: round neck or strange markings)

A friend of mine who is a nurse said once that in hospitals they are never too concerned (from a child protection pov) about bruises on the legs because they get them so easily. My kids have very fair skin and bruise easily - as I do (I can never recall anything causing the horrendous bruises I sometimes have.)

my g.p told me that she would be more concerned to see a little boy without any bruises on his legs and it's only bruises popping up in weird places that are worrying.

thank you all! I was starting to get paranoid because he has a high amount at the moment (probably because dh is home from work this week and the rough and tumble quota has excelled!)

Thanks for putting my mind at rest! like a lot of of you have said - his legs are the main area.

Iused to worry about this, but then I thought my DS is a happy little soul and is obviously contented, so who in their right mind would think anything is wrong.

Both my boys - 4 and 2.5 are permanently covered in bruises on their legs!

I think that is normal - ds is certainly often covered in bruises on his legs. He went through a stage of pointing to them and saying 'Daddy did that to me' at which point I did speak to all of his childcare providers, because I could envisage a social services visit! (I'm fully confident Daddy didn't btw, ds just has a wild imagination!)

DD (3yo) is always covered in bruises too. Mostly I have no idea when or how they happened, or if they happened at home, nursery or elsewhere. Nursery has never commented on it. I guess it is just par for the course.
