DD is 2.8 and is still having up to 3 hrs sleep a day - is this average??

She is still going to bed at approx 7.30pm and sleeping through to 7.00am.

Should i just enjoy it while it lasts or should I be worried??????

She has a 1.5 hour nap in the afternoon. Then she sleeps from 8PM-at least 8AM, but usually about 9AM.

Enjoy it!

my dd hasnt napped during the day since she was 20 mths, unless we go swimming, in which case she will have a 15 min nap on bus home. sometimes sleeps from 7.30pm to 7.30 am, but if naps for those 15 mins will be awake as late as 11pm, and gets up at 7.30am.

DS was 2 3 weeks ago and sometimes has up to an hour during the day. Sometimes no nap at all. Unless he is really tired, a nap stops him going to bed at his usual time of 7pm. He sleeps through til around 7am.

Mine does, too, Malory! She shouts, Cot! Cot! as she tries to climb in. Once placed in, she sticks her feet in her GroBag.

She even likes to go in between naps. She lounges back on her pillow and likes to watch telly whilst reclining.

ds2 will be 3 soon but pretty much stopped napping not long after turning 2. I was relieved really as I don't have to plan my day around naps anymore. He would never sleep in his pram.

my ds is 2.3 yo
Usually sleeps 2 to 3 hours in the day (although sometimes has a "short" 1 hour sleep).
11 to 12 hours at night

Makes up for first 6 weeks of feeding every 2 hours (day and night), and then three months of colic after that (very little sleep then).

If he misses his daytime sleep (or if it is cut short) it seems to muck up his night time sleep - he does a shorter sleep and then is a tired misery the next day. He is pretty flexible though, and it does not seem to matter what time in the day he has his sleep.

But a friend's 2.2yo does not sleep at all in the day (and only sleeps about 8 hours at night).

Enjoy it while it lasts, Mandymoo. If you muck with her sleeping patterns it might be very difficult to get them re-established.

Enjoy it - ds has no sleep during the day - but does crash out for 13.5 hours at night.

Ds2 is 2.8 as well and, if allowed, would have a good couple of hours sleep in the day then sleep right through at night.

I'm trying to cut his sleep a bit as sometimes I struggle to get him to settle down at 7.30. So some days he has a sleep and some days he doesn't. If he does, I try and make it as early as poss.

My ds is 2.9 yo and has a 2 hr nap in the day but sleeps for only 10 hrs at night. If I can can him to aoid the nap I do but if we're out in the car or buggy he'll drop off.

I wish!! DS3 gave up naps during the day at 18 months (he's 2 on the 27th), as did his brother. He IS a lot easier to settle at night now though.

DS2 gave his nap when he was 2.3yrs old. We found that if he even had a 20 minute nap he would be up until gone 9pm. We find now that if we go anywhere after 4pm in the car we all have to put in a huge effort with singing, chatting, showing books etc to keep him awake otherwise he would fall asleep and we would have a little companion for the rest of the evening! Even with no nap he only sleeps 10 hours at night. The only time a lengthy nap is going to cause a problem is when your child goes to nursery (and that's only if they get an afternoon place). Enjoy it!

DD is 3.2yo & would/does still nap for 2hrs/day given the chance! We are trying to wean her off it which makes for a very grumpy/clumsy toddler from about 3pm onwards with the attention span of a gnat, who still resists going to bed, but drops off immediately once we have managed to shoe horn her into bed and scarper out the room. She then does about 11.5hrs. If she naps then she plays up alot more and may not fall asleep before 8.30-9pm. Wakes earlier too....

I love the nap - but I think it is now more for our sake & the peace and quiet it brings than a necessity for her IYSWIM. She can still do 3hrs if very tired!

Nearly 2 year old DS slept from 8pm last night to 9am this morning and still had 2 hours this afternoon. The afternoon nap was in his cot with his Grobag on and this is quite typical. He went to sleep quite happily at 8pm this evening too. We find that if he doesn't have a quality nap in the afternoon then he doesn't go to bed so easily at night.
