swollen 'bump' on ds's bottom gum line?

(*i apologise if this isnt the right place to post this, i wasn't sure!!) ..

ds is a year old now and before i put him down for his morning nap, he was crying a lot which i thought he was tired and i had a look in his mouth and noticed a round swollen 'bump' on his lower gum, its not large, but when i gently tried to touch it, ds screamed! so i let it alone and he continued to scream.. so with a bit of calpol, cuddles and milk, he's fell asleep..

has anyone had this before? (trying not to be a paranoid mom as i know its probably nothing too serious... but...!!)

i've phoned the GP and he is going to call me back (as the receptionist said he should call me back before i bring my son in.. grrr!!)

Could it be a tooth?

it could be, and i have a good feeling i'm over-reacting like mad to this (he's my first...)- but its quite swollen (almost like a little bubble that has 'wrapped' around the gum area)..

Does he have lots of teeth at the moment? It definitely sounds like a tooth about to break through the gum..... very uncomfortable for the wee lamb.

he has 8 teeth currently... i hope thats all it is (a tooth), i should have known something was up when he only took one bite of his morning snack and then refused it (usually he loves breadsticks and cream cheese!)

i hope the GP phones back soon....

My dd is 11 months old and also has 8 teeth. When her 2 top middle ones were coming through her gums looked SO painful and swollen. She was dribbling like a rabid dog too! I'm sure that's all it is, or maybe a wee ulcer.

:nods: spoke to the GP just a few minutes ago, he said it might be an ulcer too, he is going to see ds this afternoon....

(i just HATE knowing my little buddy is in pain! )

just thought i'd give an update since we're back from the GP's now... yep, its just a tooth coming thru... ds is still eating, so the GP said as long as he eats well, no real reason to worry about it unless it gets worse (bigger, broken skin, etc..)

now i think i can relax some!!
