Did your new baby have that reincarnated look?

You know, that aware-but-puzzled look, as if they are thinking 'I don't understand, I was just on my way to pick up my pension and started to have chest pains and now suddenly I appear to be lying here wearing a nappy, surrounded by enormous people staring down at me with goofy expressions, in a house I have never seen before, and every time I open my mouth to ask someone what's going on the only sound that comes out is a sort of wailing'.

My DS2 was definitely reincarnated.

Not sure I believe in reincarnation, but yes, he did have that look A sort of resigned oh-well-let's-get-on-with-it look. Many people told me he had 'an old soul' over the first few weeks.

Heh! So much! Mine is just nearing 11 weeks and since she can't talk yet, somehow it's really easy sometimes to forget that she's a baby, she sometimes looks so serious and world weary.

I reckon she might have been round the block a few times!

Strange this - 2 of mine definitely had that 'look' - the other one didn't, she was brand new

dd1, 2 and 3 had 'that look' i thought i was being daft, but dd4 is def 'brand new'

Oh yes, in delivery room DS actually crawled up to my breasts to feed whilst looking really pissed off. We all think he is reincarnated, or "recycled" as I prefer to put it. He does say alarming things from time to time such as "I want my old mummy" and "I was born in a castle" but I try to overlook this. It's lessening as he gets older, and I presume, forgets.

Yes--I don't know about reincarnated but I definitely had the feeling that they had both always existed as their own selves. It was quite humbling. I felt they'd pre-existed somewhere, just waiting to be born.

Ds2 very much like this. When he was around 2 he used to say "Mommy, you're my wife" and lately at 3 he's begun talking about his "country house"

We don't know anyone with a country house so can't imagine where he would have heard that expression.

DS first mentioned "George's castle" when he heard the Big Ben bells on PM at 6pm when he was about 18 months old.

What brilliant stories - I love the idea of a baby who used to have a country house. No wonder he is pissed off.
Mine is currently reacting strongly to romantic 30s music (Cheek to Cheek, The Way You Look Tonight) - he is clearly familiar with it, which supports my theory that he was an old age pensioner until about a month ago.

I didn't actually believe in reincarnation but until ds2 came along but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Apparently my brother used to say things like 'I had a car like that when I was old' when he was about 3! My ds used to turn round loads of times before settling to sleep - I used to joke that he used to be a dog.

DD1 was brand new and is the most delightful laid back accepting nice person.

DD2 had the recycled look and has been pissed off about it her entire life. always frustrated and in a hurry to get to where she was before.
