DS is 2 this week.
He is really heavy, not out of proportion, I don't think, but to look at him you would think he had a huge appetite and he really doesnt. Today he has eaten 3 mouthfuls of rice krispies, 1/6 of a piece of toast, 2 small fingers of cheese sandwich, 2 plums, 1/2 apple and 2 bites of chicken and some peas. he still has 200ml milk morning and at night.. I'm not too worried about his eating, it is quite healthy but can't quite work out how come he is so heavy. He is so active, borderline hyperactive. just wondered how tall and how heavy your 2 yr olds are??

How heavy / tall is he?

My dd3 is 2.3.

At her 2 yr check she measured 81cm tall and 31 lb weight. So not exactly in proportion

She does seem to have grown a good few cm's though ...will have to check her height again for interests sake.

dd is 2.2, she is about 85cm tall and weighs 27lbs.

She was a 25th centiler for weight and around 9th ish for height ~I think. But she was a weeny 5lb 12 at birth so I think she's doing pretty well.

ds2 is 23 months and 90cm and 35lbs, he doesn't look huge but is on 99thile, and in 2-3 clothes and I think the figures mean he has BMI over what he should have not sure what to do as he is active, he walks to school, there and back twice a day with his big brother (obviously not this week) and doesn't eat loads, I'm really careful about approriate sized portions, HV said he's due to have a growth spurt soon as he hasn't had new shoes since July... I can't work out why he's so heavy either - HV said not to worry as long as he stayed on the growth chart!

oopps calculated it wrong I think 15.2kilos is more like 33.5lbs so very similar to your ds

VBS, what did he weigh at birth? Does he still have a lot of milk?
I'm not too worried, but really don't think what he eats should mean he is so heavy

im just looking at my dd1's red book and at birth she was 9lb 1oz and 20 ins long. At 2 yrs she was 35.8lb and 90.05cm...she had always been a tall solid girl and she is also very heavy boned just like her Dad. She had always been on the 98th - 99.6th percentile BUT i did noticed that when she turned 2....everything slowed^ down for her weight and height. DD1 was last weighed @ 4 yrs 9m old (july 09) - 50.9lb and was 114cm.

Where my dd2 who just turned 1, needs to get growing as she was 9lb 3.5cm and 20 ins long but is a little dinky one now!

dd1 - Still got a huge appetite now but is very lean with a small belly on her.

DD is 3.4 and is 90cm and 26lbs

Last year at 2.5 she was 78cm and 22lbs!

She was 8lbs at birth and she eats loads (and i am 5'8") no ryhme or reason to it as long as they seem happy, healthy and more or less in proprtion I'm sure it's fine!

My DD is 89 cm and 32 lbs. She is 2 in 3 weeks, so very similar to your DS, except my little girl does have a bigger appetite, although she doesnt drink any milk now, only has milk with her cereal.
She weighed 22 lbs at 5 1/2 months and that was only on 5 bottles of formula milk a day! The health visitor recommended that I drop the milk as quickly as I could and get her onto solid food, which I did. She weighs the same now as she did a year ago, think its just because she is more active.

Ilovetochat - where do you get your DD's trousers from as she has a similar height/weight to my DD . DD's are always about a foot too long or they won't do up round the middle.

suwoo · 29/10/2009 22:39

My DS barely eats either, I'm not sure of his height but he is 3 in 5 weeks and weighs 28lb.

My DD only weighs 44lb (3 stone 2) and she is nearly 8

mooki, i get her trousers from asda or M&S but the waists hang off her, she is just into 18-24 month clothes but skirts fall off her so she mainly wears dresses.

Report
suwoo · 30/10/2009 20:45

Asda trousers are ginormous. Mine have to wear H&M as they are the skinniest. They mostly wear no added sugar tops as they are made for the slimmer child.

Report
ilovetochat · 30/10/2009 21:40

i always get te trousers with adjustable waist and pull them right in, but by the time the waist fit her the trousers are like shorts

Report
suwoo · 30/10/2009 21:50

Mine have to wear the adjustable waists on the tightest bit and then they are all gathered on the sides and look awful.

Next are doing a slim fit now in trousers, might be worth a look?

Report
ilovetochat · 30/10/2009 21:53

i like the M&S trousers as they are quite slim, havent tried next, tbh asda is more my budget

Report
mooki · 30/10/2009 22:05

I've found Asda ones to be quite long too. We have a Next seconds shop near us, so now she's got some elasticated waist 18-24 month joggers for £3.99.

I will have a look at M&S.

ilovetochat · 30/10/2009 22:07

dds legs are quite long in relation to her tiny waist. her 12-18 month trousers fit her waist, but are ankle swingers hence me moving her upto 18-24 this month.
so mainly she lives in dresses and tights.

DS is 2.2 (almost) and is 89cm and 26lbs....he has def just had a growth spurt and gone up in weight a little. But I have done that myself as no 2 yr check ups round here Last year he didn't put any weight on for about 9 months. He is very lean!!

DD is 2.2 and is 93cm and 29lbs. She's always been tall but seems to have gone throught a growuth spurt since ber birthday. She was 89cm then and has therefore grown 4 cm in 2 months. Not eating any more at mealtimes (but does now like to snack on bread sticks and slices of cheese as well). Somedays she'll hardly touch her meals and other she scrape her plate clean and then demolish 3 pots of fromage frais.
