I have a 17mth old who started walknig at 11mths. he is always so wobbly on his feet. my mum reckons its cos he is trying to run everywhere. but he does run and can do this without wobbling all the time. even if he walks he seems clumcy. anyone got any advice? im not sure what to do, do i take him to the dr and see what he thinks?

hi carlyp i would not panic .you could get him checked by gp he could have an ear problem, this could effect his balance.I look after a 3 yr old and her legs are always giving way for no reason. And some kids are just clumsy i know loads of adults who are clumsy.so dont worry

DS2 walked at 10 months, but after a few months became VERY unstable on his feet........because he was trying to run everywhere and wasn't looking where he was going.

He's now 18 months and he's 'sorted' himself out and falls over MUCH less often

is it any better with or without shoes?
my ds started walking bout the same time - but i never put him in shoes and when i watch him he curls his toes to hold onto the ground which steadies him.

i think he is better without shoes. but i always go to clarks to make sure they fit his feet. hopefully this will correct itself over time.
