night nappies always dry, but wets bed without one

Anyone had this one? She's three and been potty trained for months, and her night-time nappies have been dry, with very few exceptions, for almost as long. She's keen to lose the night-time nappy but every time we try it she wets the bed.
Not sure how to proceed. Is it a retrograde step to put her back into a nappy the following night?

Maybe she needs the reassurance that the nappy is there. Have you tried tucking a clean nappy into bed with her, say something like "and here's your nappy to help keep you dry". Worked on mine!

Perhaps you could try putting a pair of pants on her? Maybe she associates having something next to her skin?

I think she'd reject the nappy because she's pretty determined that she's 'a grown-up girl' now who doesn't need them, but I'll try pants, see if that makes a difference.
Which takes me off-topic a second -- do any of you put your kids in pants under their PJs or indeed wear them yourselves at night? A friend of mine was appalled that I didn't. She's Australian and apparently they all do it there. (Adults and children).

Hee hee.

Sometimes ds asks to wear pants (usually his favourite Roary ones, just because he likes them so much). I usually just put him in PJs all nice and clean from bath.

I wear pants at night but then I am a chilly creature and often wear pjs and a jumper too. And socks.

Hepzibah - you could tell your friend it's better for her genital health to allow a bit of air to circulate around her bits at night, rather than keep them hot and sweaty inside her unnecessary pants! And what sort of conversations does she have with her fellow Australians, to know such intimate details about an entire nation??!!

Weeeell, similarly I did tell her that Brits never wear underwear in bed, and to be fair I haven't checked under many nighties...
