Is it odd that my yr old does not want to be picked up by people?

To me it doesnt seem that odd but I am so fed up with telling my friends and family that when ds says 'no don't pick me up' he means it.

Just has a screaming meltdown because a friend of family wouldn't take no for an answer and scooped him up to cuddle him.

He's a lively young man who likes his independance... is it so odd that he's not that cuddley?

He only really wants cuddles when he's hurt or wants reassurrance, even then only from mummy or daddy.

I really didn't think it was that unusual but certain comments have got me wondering whether toddlers are ment to just sit and be cuddled!

Nah, my kids hate it too, but people still want to try it.

Well it annoys me!!! He's a person, surely he's entitled to his personal space if he wants it.

I feel bad but I kind of have to stick up for him all the time and say 'errrm no please don't just leave him' constantly and then I look horrible!

Ahh sorry for the rant. People just never learn!
