Funny you should ask that........my baby brother inhaled Meconium when he was born (going back to 1979) and ended up in the ICU. He had what the HV always said was colic but what mum and me now discuss as being a severe reflux. It went on until he was about 2.

Both of mine had meconium in the waters, neither had respiratory problems

Meconium stained liquor (usually harmless) is significantly different from meconium aspiration where the baby 'inhales' meconium into the lungs (very serious). I'm not sure how aspirating into the lungs would affect the digestive system though as reflux is concerned with the sphincter at the entrance to the stomach.

He also had asthma as a child but it got a lot better when he was around 8. reikizen, I know what you mean.......just I've always felt there was a link there and its interesting that red brought that up. Why is there never an important science person around when you need one!!! grin
