My 23 month old DS seems to repeat an awful lot of what I say. Sometimes I hear him repeating phrases to himself from his favourite books or things that he has heard me or DH say during the day. For example, he will often say 'good boy' if he's done something he thinks deserves a little praise - he seems to be copying me having said this to him. I know that children do learn by repeating things that they hear, but DS does seem to do it rather a lot. He does also have reasonably good 'non-repetitive' speech, if that makes sense.
I am hoping that it is just a phase and part of his language development, but was just wondering if anyone else experienced this type of thing or whether it is something I should be worried about.
Thanks very much.
