DD is 8.5 months and very active on her own - crawling, standing, starting to cruise about - and can usually entertain herself for a good while if she's got cloth books, bricks, cups etc, and just the living room to pootle about in pulling herself up and investigating things. If I try to sit down with her and actively 'play' (songs, reading to her, playing with cups etc) she gets bored very quickly and buggers off to do something more fun.
How much should I try to being doing things with her and how much is it ok at this age to let her just get on with finding out about stuff herself? On the one hand it's great that she's keen to look at everything, on the other I think am I being a lazy mummy when most of what I do is take dangerous stuff out of her hands and stop her trying to eat electric cables
