Another sleep question....9.5 month old when should I drop the morning nap?

DD is 9.5 months, crawling and cruising and generally loves to be on the go. Until recently she's been a great sleeper but now resists sleep at every oppotunity. Last night she was up 3 times and when I'm so used to her sleeping through this is a bit of a shock to my system.

I'm thinking about dropping the morning nap. Is now about the right age? Would be grateful to hear about anybody else's experience of this.

DS is 10mths and has one 1.5hr/2hr nap a day - usually in the afternoon then one catnap of around 20-30mins. They are all different though, why don't you try and put her down for her nap a bit later i.e. an hour later. Keep doing this until she is down to one nap a day?

My ds is 22 months now and has one nap a day in the early afternoon for 1-2hours. He went through a couple of weeks of waking several times in the night too at different points, like your dd, after being a good sleeper. I used to put it down to a growth spurt, or teething (we could always be guaranteed to spot a new tooth after he went through a spell of waking in the night). I'm sure it will settle down and she'll go back to sleeping well for you. You may find that if you cut out her morning nap, that she is then over tired at night, which may not help! But everything is trial and error with babies! Do what you feel is best and just go from there. xxx

Can't remember when dd1 stopped doing a morning nap but it was before her first birthday. I just kept her going until lunchtime one day and she was fine, and that was the end of her morning nap. She'd still fall asleep in the car if we went somewhere in the morning, but not if she was at nursery / at home. I did find that restricting her naps improved her night time sleep.

Thanks all. Based on your advice I'll give it a go.
