yesterday i got very annoyed and explained to her the reason she is so tired is because she is refusing to eat any substantial. i had opened her lunch bag and she had eaten one bite of her sandwich and drunk her juice. that morning she had eaten half a slice of toast. she goes through stages of not wanting to eat. once i explained to her why she was so tired, she promised to eat her lunch today at school. and she has. did i do the right thing? she is only 5 btw. dont want her to have a problem with food.

I think you did. You told her the basic truth, if you don't eat you will have no energy.

Oh yes, I think you did well. It's true! My mum told ds that if he ate any more sweets he would be too fat for his pushchair! He was delighted by the idea btw.

oh thank goodness. i didnt want it to turn into another 'why dont you eat, you have to eat' without telling her why she has to eat. she has always been picky about food.
