DS is nearly 9 months and had been sitting unsupported for about 3 months well, but in the last week or so he has been putting himself onto his stomach, im not worried as i just leave him as hies usually playing and just pick his up back into sitting when he eventually cries because he wants to sit. Does anyone elses baby do this and does anyone know why is it that he wants to get down on his front to crawl??? He had never liked it on his front before and every time i tried putting him on his front he screams. he cant roll so doesnt like to be on his back either. like i said im not worried that hes started doing it just wonering if anyone elses ds/ddd does it and why

i think that it is perfectly normal behaviour and the start of your baby experiencing movement that he is initiating himself.
He is just starting to get mobile. The next stage is of course crawling so he is assuming the position thats all.
He's a very clever little chap.

Have no idea if it's normal, but our ds does it too!! He's 7.5 months, been sitting pretty well for I guess a month now. Used to scream blue murder if we put him on his front, but now that he can sit, he has started rolling forwards on to his front voluntarily - like you, I don't tend to intervene unless he starts making a fuss and although he can roll from front to back, he seems pretty lazy bout doing so. Df reckons ds is just trying to crawl - we;re not really worried either, although he did scare the life out of df last night when he did it in the bath!
