Teething?

Hiya,

I have a three month old who has been blissful until the last week! She has slept through the night from the start and has always been pretty good when i have put her down to sleep but recently, since i have put her on a four hour routeen she has been much less settled and lasts hardly any time during play before crying. Her worst time is around mid day. so two hours after her feed. She always looks exhausted at this time but refuses to have a rest and screams and is just very unsettled. I end up rocking her to sleep for about twenty mins before i can get her to sleep for half an hour. She will then be pretty unsettled for the rest of the day. I wonder if she is teething? Her cheeks are red and she does drool but I cant feel anything if I rub her bottom gum and also think it might be a bit early! Any ideas?

Teething can happen at any time. Red cheeks and drooling are signs of teething, but often (and I'm a mum of 3 so you would think I should know better!) you see a tooth and think "Ah, that's why she was XYZ".

Perhaps she's just not ready for a four hour routine. (Not sure what that is.) Perhaps you need to go back to your previous routine for another month or so.

With my first two, I always fed them when they woke from their naps. At this age ds1 had 3 naps a day (1h, 2h30m, 30-45min), whereas dd needed 4 naps of about 1h-1h30min. Ds3, OTOH, never had more than 2 naps a day - but he didn't sleep at night either, whereas the other two did.
