Hi there, I'm new to Mumsnet, I love the postings and wonder whether anyone can help me!!
My baby boy was full term 8 oz but has always been a mini eater! He is now 13 weeks and 16 pounds(!!) but is such a snacker and likes to eat 3 oz every 3 hours, including the night.
As sleeping is also an issue, I have bought the Baby Whisperer..the advice is that you MUST get him eating 6/7 oz a time, but I cant make him eat!! He is very sure when he's had enough and turns his head away from the bottle, and grizzles if you persist.!

He is a poor sleeper and I am revving up to start pick up put down on Monday...

It is nearly 4pm and he has only had 8oz since 2am...2oz at 2, 3oz at 8, 3oz at 12. We've been out in the car so he's had 2 big (2 hour) sleeps in between (unusual). Am just about to try to feed him again.
I know this isnt enough but he's just not interested.
Has anyone got any ideas as how to increase his dosage! He is able to take 6oz, and he used to take 5oz each feed at about 7 weeks.
Thank you xx

I think you just need to chill out. Are you feeding him on demand and giving him as much as he wants? Clearly his weight isn't a problem so just go with the flow.

My DD is 14 weeks and probably about 12.5lbs (I haven't had her weighed for three weeks). I find she has hungry days and less hungry days. I wait for her to want feeding because 'trying' to feed her is largely futile as she just rolls the bottle round in her mouth if she doesn't want it.

Just one thing - he isn't on cow and gate is he? My DD will certainly take more since I have put her onto SMA.

I may be barking completely up the wrong tree, but when my LO was that age he would only eat really small amounts very, very regularly.
It turns out he had reflux and any more milk would cause him distress and pain, and cause massive, massive projectile sick.
We had him on meds from doctor which improved things slightly but basically we just went on that way until weaning.

Thank you for the advice! I've ordered new teats, and wierdly have started giving the last half of the feed with him lying on his changing mat, which seems to work and he has taken 5.5, 4.5 and 5oz so far today :O

I also started the baby whisperer 3 hr easy routine on Sat night and I think the sense of routine has improved his feeding.
