Biting your child

Has anyone bitten their child? My 2.8 DD has bitten her 11 wk old baby brother, I was livid, cross etc etc...I put her in the hallway then got her in to come and apologise, enter the monster...so I bit her back! Oh dear, obv not too hard but she was very shocked, I am very disappointed with myself, I have never smacked her and today really lost it, feeling fairly horrible about this.
Bloody typical as we made a chart today to continue to moniter her behaviour, which is usually ok, bar the typical terrible two's tantrums.

Help!

If you are telling her to bite it seems a very funny message to bite her!
I would just get down to her level-look her straight in the eye and tell her firmly, in a no nonsense calm voice that she is never, ever to do it again.

No I haven't bitten my child - but have certainly seen red plenty of times so could understand why that could happen - esp when your new baby has been hurt.

Best advice is for you to go somewhere and take several deeps breahts, scream, hit a pillow whatever so long as you regain control of your temper before dealing with the toddler.

Good luck.

Yes, I totally lost it for a moment there, very frightening to see what I could do...at least I stopped before I got through to her tendons (joke!)
Let's hope it won't happen again...if it does I will remind self of shitty feeling, leave the room then address it...but shouldn't I deal with it asap?? If I calm down, it might take a few mins...poss more than that!

Years ago my ds who was very much a PFB bit the back of my calf so hard he drew blood I was heavily pregnant with ds2 and in my fury bit him back I didnt draw blood but his arm was red later that day he had a massive asthma attack (not related to my bite) and was rushed to hospital- the nurse asked him why his arm was red so I explained ......well he wont bite you again she said, and he didnt but shame has ensured I have bitten any of my other dc.

DS1 bit DS2 several times when he was tiny but personally I never would have resorted to biting back. He left teeth marks a few times on DS2.

I have been told to bite back by several people over the years but I don't agree with it TBH.

Biting is something alot of children go through and they will almost certainly grow out of it. DS1 bit quite alot but he grew out of it by about 4 I think.
