She said a more accurate prediction will be made when he's 2, but that if he continue as he is, thats what she thinks. Blardy hell.

apparently if you double the height they are at 2 you can get a reasonable indication of their adult height

May I suggest you buy stepladders should you wish to kiss him goodbye on his first day of school

DD age 3.5 comes to just under boob level [sigh]

lol, we were told that early about long scrawny ds1. he's 7 now and the shortest in the class by some good margin. i do feel for him as at this rate both his sisters are going to be much much taller.
but then we also called him 'tim nice but dim' for a long period and turns out he's scary clever...
the fortune teller just can't make her mind up these days...

Are you v tall mama? My DS#1 is likely to be 6'4 and I suspect DS#2 will be similar. DD is going to be a little shorter than me.

I'm 5' 3 but DH is 6 feet tall. My nephew was always the smallest in his class, even through high school and now, at 18, is 6 4 so it may not be so!

lol, the old late developer thing. i'm clinging onto that as a ray of hope for the little man. i'm 5'2 and dh is 6'2... all the wimmin on dh's side are amazonian (and the girls look like they are going that way)... ds just looks like he's taking after my side of the family despite his promising start lol...
(i tell my parents that i had to marry a tall bloke to introduce some healthier taller genes lol, dad is only 5'5...)

I'm clinging onto it for DS1, he's 5 and one of hte smaller boys in his class. He is uber skinny too. Grow DS1, grow!

ah, it's fab! DS comes out at 6ft8 according to the red book calculation - wouldn't surprise me in the least. At just turned 3 he's taller than all the 5 year olds we know and has always been tall. I'm 6ft and DH 6ft 3, so really would not surprise me!

MIL was told this continually from the moment DH was born. He was always very tall for his age...then stopped growing at 13/14 at 5'8"

DS is the height of most 6 yr olds (he is almost 5) so we are wondering if he will actually be tall or follow his Dad LOL

Mamazon · 02/07/2009 12:46

Ds is going to be a good 6ft or so.

I am praying that DD stays as she is, very typical for her age.
i am exceptionally tall and have always hated it.

being tall is fine so long as she doesn't exceed about 5'9/10.

My DS1 is ^fy and has just (two weeks ago) had his 16th birthday.
We are a family of shortarse with the exception of my grandmother.
Tall is lovely but I take this stuff with a pinch of salt.

I'm 5'8. dh is 6'5,
ds1 is 9 and 5'!!!! was predicted 6'4 at 2
but ds2 8 is tiny, teeny tiny, and slight as well.... don't know where he comes from.
his 2 yr prediction was for 5'10, so I'm hoping for a growth spurt some time soon

Madwoman my DH and I are the same height as you and yours. I too come from a v short family and am praying that my two boys are tall like their dad. It is much harder to be a short man than a short woman IMO.

DS2 has a height prediction of about 6 foot 5. At just 2 he is as tall if not taller than most 3 year olds I know and has size 9 feet!!!!!! DH is 6 foot 8, I'm 5 foot 8 and think its nice to be tall especially for blokes.

gegs73 · 02/07/2009 12:50

BTW forgot to say DH loves his height. Thinks he is otherwise average but his height makes him stand out which he likes.

madwomanintheattic · 02/07/2009 12:51

i want to swap ds and dd2's height genes around - it would be much easier... he wouldn't then have to deal with being the short bloke, and she would find it easier to maintain her balance lol

I am a dwarf in mine at 5 7

'Wee' man will be 8 months tomorrow. And he weighs exactly 2 stone and is 29.5 inches long.

I don't know about the 2 year old height thing, but when they were trying to figure out the cause of DD1's developmental delays, she had some thigh bone measurement test done at the Royal ('Sick Kids') in Edinburgh. Paed said she'll be at least 5ft., 10 in. but if she had to wager she'd say 5ft., 11 in.

My niece will be 15 and is 6ft., 1in. She appears to have stopped growing, but she actually likes her height.

expatinscotland · 02/07/2009 12:56

DH's brother is 6ft., 5in. and other than buying a longer mattress and ordering shoes from America it's not caused any other problems.

In a way I'm a bit thankful mine do have American nationality, too. I guess it's because a lot of people there are of very mixed origins but there seem to be more really tall people there.

I was predicted 6'6" using the double the height at 2 method

I ended up 6', still tall but not giant proportions!

don't worry too much - my brothers are 6ft 3 and 6ft 5 - and it makes them totally gorgeous - they love being tall. I'm hoping DS is similar - though he has a danger of inheriting DP's short arse genes.

I am expecting great things from all my DC's as DH is 6'8" and I am 5'8"
Ds is 2.5 and up to my waist already.
It does make it easier to spot dh in a crowd though.
We did the calcs in the red book and DD1 is predicted to be 6' - just like her Gran and her auntie.
