I had a day like that on Thursday but then had a supermum day on Friday. No real reason for difference except my son and I had both slept better overnight and in the day so better tempered. Its like a rollercoaster peckarollover
I had one of those days today too, I think it is because we stayed home all day today and if we go out and do something even if it's only for a walk round to the shops we have a better day, but when we're cooped up in the house all day those are usually the bad days.
I dont know how you turn it round.
I hoped you would all tell me.
I was searching on parenting books on Amazon-always find that helps-a good parenting read seems to put things in perspective-I ordered 3 books on sibling rivalry. My two youngest DD 9 years and DS 5 years just spent most of this morning fighting. It was so bad I am fantasising about sending DD to boarding school.
Anyway I read a book review which mentioned mumsnet so here I am -a newbie on here -mother of 3 not so little angels.
By the way love little angels and the house of tiny tearaways-always seem to be a better more positive mum after I have watched them.
Glad to hear I am not the only one struggling today-sometimes parenting can be very loneley.
Had the day from hell on Thursday and it didnt get any better.
Friday however was a great day. Sleep has a lot to do with it i think.
If Jess sleeps well overnight, and has decent naps in the day, we are both much happier, and the secret on my part is to sleep when she sleeps!!! (Had 3 hours uninterupted sleep this morning - and she's 11 months old!)
Just wanted to add support. No magic ointment, I'm afraid - but I know what you mean. I had "rules" with my children which I have broken many times. One that I would never tell them to shut up. Two that I would never tell them that they were stupid. Three that I would never swear at them. Although I still think they are great rules, I have sadly broken them on many many occasions.
Good luck. I have a stash of what my dp calls "parenting porn" under my bed, and sometimes reading it helps. how old are your kids?
KJ I have 3DD, the oldest two, 10 and 7 fight like mad, I end up bringing their bedtimes forward by 15mins each time they get told off when their really being naughty, don't do it very often as it seem to work. They wnet to bed an hour earlier one night!
Oh I know this feeling Pecka! We have had the week from hell (both boys in hospital, no sleep for DH & I for five days). By yesterday I was at my wits end having caught the bug which hospitalised the kids.
Today I let DS1 watch TV all day, didn't play with him at all and was really snappy. He's in bed now and I feel crap!
