8 week old, too much sleep?

I really don't want to seem smug in any way, but is there such a thing as too much sleep for an 8 week old?
DD is almost 9 weeks, bedtime usually around 9pm after 5 feeds in the day at 3-4 hourly intervals BF. The last 2 feeds a bit closer together 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The thing is she has gone from 6 hours sleep, to 8 then to 10 all in the last 2 weeks it seems!
In one way it's great but she doesn't even wake up for a feed, she goes 10 hours straight through. Now of course i'm worried she is sleeping too much.
Her naps during the day are much shorter now, she likes to be with it and is very alert when she is awake, also gaining weight steadily. Can growth spurts make them tireder, am i lucky and worrying for no reason or could there be something wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

it is possible for tiny babies to have too much sleep. sometimes if they aren;t feeding well or getting enough milk they get tired and sleep more, thus take less milk, thus get tireder and it's a vicious circle.

however, if your little one is doing well and gaining weight and you have no other concerns then I would just make the most of it tbh!

My DD was like this. I went to the doctors and asked, as I didn't know about MN at the time, and was laughed out of the surgery! DD was gaining weight and was perfectly content.

Though you may not follow the same pattern, DD slept fantastically til the last year, we never had any sleep problems.

She's now 8, though, and her imagination seems to have kicked in in a somewhat unpleasant way at bedtime. She struggles to get to sleep most nights and we've tried all sorts. But for now? Enjoy the rest! It helps so much when you're a new mom.

my DS was also like this, from around 6 weeks, would go down at 8 wake for last feed at midnight then sleep through until 9.30 am. he didn't drop his nap (which was often around 3 hours) until he was 3, he just needs to sleep. All was well with him.

We didn't have any sleep issus with him until he was around 3.6 then we went through hell with him for about 6 months. Now he doesn't like going to sleep but when he is asleep charging rhinos wouldn't wake him and he regualry sleeps 12 hours a night (he is now 6.6)

I would enjoy it whilst its happening.

Has she just has any vaccinations? My DD did this at about 10 weeks I think, after vaccinations, she slept a lot for a week. I wouldn't worry she sounds like she's doing really well

Bella when my dd now almost two was newborn i remember being amazed at the amount of sleep she had compared to my ds. I distinctly remember typing does my baby sleep too much into google..anyway it didn't last and it ended far too abruptly for my liking.

Thanks for the advice everyone, DH says I worry too much, and worry if I have nothing to worry about!!
Lobsters you may be on to something, had her first jabs last week and so commenced the 10 hours stints, will keep an eye on things.

Thanks again all
