Swaddling in the summer

My sister's dd is now 2 months old and loves being swaddled. Trouble is that when we had that very warm spell and even now to an extent, her dd gets so warm, it is worrying my sister that she is getting too hot.

She sleeps in bodysuit and then swaddle sheet.

Any advice / thoughts? My sister is loathed to stop swaddling, as she sleeps so well, but she hardly slept one night for fear of her dd overheating!

I don't think there is a solution, but I thought I'd ask the experts of the mumsnet jury!

Cheers

We swaddled with a thin cotton cot sheet and baby wearing just a vest and nappy.

My two eldest children were born in Australia and the youngest in the middle of a heat wave (47 in the shade the day he was born). I would keep them in a vest & nappy and wrap them in muslin wrap and that was fine for both of them both day and night.

We also had no air-conditioning so a fan would be going at all times at floor level - they were both in cots so the fan couldn't blow on their faces.

thanks. yeah, her dd is in just a short sleeved bodysuit and nappy and swaddle sheet (comparable to cot sheet cotton, but her dd wriggles out of a cot sheet).
thanks for posting. i'll suggest about the fan too.
