DS is 2.11, and over the last week or so has reached the stage where he won't leave my side. He's stuck to my leg.

I'm doing housework today and if I go out to empty the bin, for example, he trots after me in a panic. He's scared of pretty much all noises, even ones he's familiar with. He says he's scared of the garden, insects...... oh, everything really

I'm sure I've come across similar threads in the past so I'm not particularly worried about it but it's a tad irritating, to say the least.

Has your DC been through similar? Please tell me it didn't last long. He starts nursery in Sept so I'm hoping he'll be over it by then, I'd hate to leave him in this state.

DS1 (3.1) went through a similar phase a couple of months ago. A loud moterbike went past us when we were crossing the road and from then on he was afraid of motorbikes, also noise from workmen and any other noise. It caused a problem as the building next to his nursery had building work and he refused to play outside for a while.

It lasted a couple of weeks. I found it very helpful whenever ds1 made a loud noise to say ''You're very noisy ds1''. I also lost count of the number of times I said '' They're only noises. Noises can't hurt you''.

Irritating I know but if you're patient he should get through it in a couple of weeks
