Beginning to really hate the bath!!!

Ds2 now 13 months loved the bath. Loved swimming. A real water baby until recently, he seems to cling really tight to me now when I take him swimming and refuses to let go of my arm to try anything. Now when he has a bath, he refuses to sit down (water temp is fine) he tries to climb out I thought it was because he had a bath without his brother and felt a bit lost. So next time bathed them both together and he began to do the same thing trying to climb out and refusing to sit down. We have had the Easter break from swimming now and we are going back Friday am dreading it that he may kick off in the pool. Any suggestions particulary for the bath on how to encourage him to enjoy it again. Any similar stories. He has never fallen in the bath or nothing traumatic has happened so I am a little confused.

really really common at this age. My DS went through this and we followed the advice of not giving them a bath for few nights (just flannel clean), then let them stand in bowl of water for few nights, then put bowl of water in bath and gradually build up until they're happy with it again.

dd has done this the last couple of nights. must be mean I started putting her toys into the bath and playing with them and she eventually sat down and started playing it didn't take long. The day before I got in and that helped lots but I can only do that if dh is home to get her dry etc while I dry myself.

Nice to see that he is not the only one. He has got a miniscule bit of on and off nappy rash as he is teething so that could be another reason why he doesn't want to sit down. But we haven't made an issue with it, we put toys in but if he wants to stand we let him and wash him standing up. Hoping it is just a phase Still dreading swimming though!
