My DS2 aged 2yrs and 9 mths has started to wake up any time from 5 onwards this has only been happening for the past 3 months and there seems to be no reason for it. Before this always used to sleep till 6.30/7.00. I put him to bed at 7pm he only has 30 mins nap if that in the day. My hubby and I are taking it in turn to get up with him in the morning which is making us cranky as you can imagine any suggestions as to how to make him sleep past this would be grateful.
From a very tired mum!!

my sleep therapist said from this age they only need 10 hrs so this takes you to the 5 am wake up

i found putting my ds to bed nearer 8 he slept longer but saying that it doesnt always work but 10 hrs is sufficient sleep

i saw it as i get an evening to myself but start my day early or i have him up all evening and feel like i dont get any me time

i chose my evenings to myself and get up early with him try to put him down 7.15 -30 and see if this helps him sleep longer do your 10 m ins story then nearly 8 by the time he sleeps found this is the magic number if ds sleeps from 8 he'll be in bed till 6-7 any earlier then i know its 5 am start pop him into bed with you with a dvd on this is what i do lol

This much vary such a lot, but at that age, dd didn't nap and went to bed at 8 but actually often 8.30 (wakes 6.30-7.30). It boggles my mind how people get 2+ yr-olds to bed by 7.

DS goes to bed at 7.30 but doesn't fall asleep till nearly 8.30pm (he just sings for an hour!) - he then wakes for the day any time between 6 and 7, so again supporting the 10 hours theory. We moved his bedtime later as I simply can't cope with pre-6am.

will watch this thread with interest!
mine (ds1 4.10 and ds2 2.10) just fell asleep now, and this is a good night. ds2 also only has 30mins during the day and wakes every morning at 5am (at the latest) .
last night it was actually midnight, 2am, 4am, and finally 6am.

My dd age 2.3 goes to bed at 7.15pm, and wakes at about 7.45am

On Sunday she slept until 9.15am...

I don't think she would survive on 10 hours a day.........

. (sorry meant to add this, but pressed the post thing by accident)........However ds was awful 5.45am like clockwork, so you have my sympathy.

I would cut the nap out, and put him to bed later.

Hi just came back on, will try later bed times and see what happens, we are away this next week on hols so prob won't put them to bed till 9ish anyway so hopefully will sleep a bit later!!
Its that catch 22 I like my evenings hence getting him into bed by 7, this gives me time with my DS1 who is 7 we then can play a game or read together and then he is in bed by 8 and then I get to spend some time with hubby. This may have to change as I can't do pre 6am for much longer!!
