my ds,3yr still drinks from a sippy beaker, i have tried to get him to drink from a proper cup but he just sticks his tongue in and tries to lap the drink up like a dog. they have a jug of milk and little plastic cups at his nursery to help themselves to drinks from, when i picked him up today he was sat at the table and just tipped his glass of milk all over him and got most upset, cus all the other kids could drink thiers ok. any tips please

NUK and Tommee Tippee each do a cup that has a concave lid, with a little hole in it. It helps LO's learn to drink by sipping, but without getting drenched (DD1 had one and DD2 will too). I got one from Boots recently.

Sorry, not NUK. The one I got from Boots is made by Heinz .

Try putting just a teeny bit of his favourite drink into an ordinary cup, so that he has to tip it to get the drink. He may spill some to begin with, but this can be quite a good way of helping him to realise the different technique needed for a real cup. Eventually, when he tips the cup he'll open his moth to catch the drink before it spills!
How about letting him choose a really cool beaker (with no lid of course) next time you're shopping, so it feels 'special' to have a real cup. He'll get the hang of it in the end, I'm sure.
