At what age can you put babies in their own bed? Needs to be bigger than a cot.

Our 5month old DD goes to sleep fine in her cot but only for 2-3 hours at a time then wakes when she's trying to roll over - gets stuck on the side.

Put her in our bed and she wriggles to her hearts content and sleeps for 6 hours, feeds and back down. She covers about 2 squared metres in her sleep rolling and twisting and wriggling.

I really don't want her in our bed - is it ok at this age to put her in her own bed?

I really wouldn't at such a young age - once she's a bit more mobile she'll be out of it every 5 minutes, even with a guard down the side, and it'll be a bit dangerous imo. A mattress on the floor may be a better option as long as there's nothing around it she can hurt herself on, or get stuck under. Plus radiators will need to be covered, doors gated etc.

DS1 didn't go into his own bed until 2yrs.

Many thanks kt14, hadn't thought of in a few months time with the mobile bit. Am so desperate only thinking about the present!

I know it's tough, but I'd try and ride it out with her in her cot. Take all toys etc out so she has as much room as possible. Not sure if cot bumpers are recommended these days for children under one, but that might be worth a thought as it will pad the cot bars a little.

Is she in a sleeping bag? I found that contained mine a little more..
