Ds is 19 months always been a fab lil eater until a week ago. When he finally learned how to spit food out, its become his new game, so ALL meals now have to take place in a high chair since I found apple going green behind my sofa!

He is all about self feeding, great....until its all over everything..BUT he has to learn so we let him feed himself...spoon skills are poor, so he gets cutlery and food he can eat with a fork or his hands.....but still he spits it out and has eaten v little in 2 days!

Do i offer him something else (loathe to do) or just figure no snacks between meals and hunger will kick in?
I know the food I feed him he likes....so its not really that....any ideas?

wait him out

show no response to the spitting

clean up with no comment

but do praise if food goes in the mouth and is eaten, tho wait for 2nd mouthful.

I tend to offer 3 meals and 2 snacks but make them count like a yogurt/cheese/fruit.

and i always do food/snacks sitting down at a table be it big table or coffee table.

My son did exactly the same, he is nearly 20 months but started this at around 17mths. Very annoying and frustrating I know but do not give him any attention regarding it. My DS still occasionally does it but gets no reaction from me whatsoever. He even did it with drinks aswell.

thanks for the advice.....no attention is the way I deal with all his other "habits" lol so will give it a bash!
