Couple of things - hitting and not sitting at the table!

I am new to this site. I have two children of 18 months and just over three. I wondered if any one had any advice about firstly hitting and pushing. My daughter never did this and I am struggling to know what to do about my little boy who seems to enjoy pushing other toddlers over. He is quite big for his age and not really speaking yet. I have tried removing him from the situation but he doesn't really understand!
Also my three year daughter will noy sit at a table for food when we are in company. She is fine-ish with me and DH but with others. She turns her nose up to food and wants to run around. Any tips would be most welcome or am I just setting my expectations too high?

Emmalin1 I have a DD nearly 5 and ds 23mnths. Having read 'Toddler Taming' I think this is perfectly normal behaviour. Sorry no helpful advice ds is currently having major tantrums involving pushing and biting, so you are not alone.
