The scariest 10 minutes of my entire life ........

I lost DS ....
He said he was going out to the driveway to wait for DH and disappeared (he often sits on the step waiting) ....
After about 10 minutes I went to check on him and he wasn't there. I called and called and called (he always comes when I call him) .... I looked everywhere, in the house, in the back garden, up and down the drive, up the road, calling all the time .... no answer .... I looked in the gully between us and the next house thinking he may have fallen ... no sign ... panic set in .... I thought he had been abducted. The neighbour at the front came out to see what was wrong so she started looking .... then DH came home ... he started looking .... by this time I was crying and in a right state.

Anyway, he was next door watching the boy next door play on his playstation the whole time and didn't hear me call ...................... the relief turned me into a sobbing wreck and I just sat on my bed and cried.
Worst fxxxing 10 minutes of my life.
He got a right telling off for not telling me that he was going next door .... and he got a real fright seeing me so upset ........
Anyway, he's fine, I am fine ..... Now.

Its horrible isn't it.

I "lost" 2 yr old dd at a very busy party once, i went manic searching in and out of all the rooms, finally find her mesmirised (SP?) in the corner by a girl with pretty long hair.

But it took me sometime to recover from the fear.

How old is your ds? It makes you think you are never ever going to let them out of your sight again doesn't it?

Been through that scary moment before when i thought i lost my DS in asda. my worst feeling in the world, found him counting the eggs at the other side of the store. Felt like throtling him but couldn't stop kissing him.

He is 5 so he does roam around the house and garden and driveway without me following him. And he does sometimes go and talk to the boys next door (who are 9 and 11) but he always tells me that he is going there and when he is out playing I can normally hear him or he hears me calling.
Just the images of him being pulled into a car at the top of the road .... awful .....
Can't have a glass of wine as it is 10.20am ... LOL ....

aww ghosty. I still shiver when I think of the time we lost ds1 at a friend's christening (millionaire's house, huge grounds, lake, next to a lane- that cars drove fast down). Luckily the children's entertainer had seen him go and had followed him and brought him back (he was miles away behind the stable block next to the road). I'll never forget that feeling.

Oh ghosty, that feeling of utter terror - I know it well. I lost ds1 at his Grandma and Grandad's - he was in the garden, I popped in to get a fleece for him, came out again and he had gone. I thought he'd gone in through the back door so went in and said to dh's Mum "has he come through here?" and she said no. She said later the colour just drained out of my face. They live next to a level crossing and railway line, on a busy main road, but with fields all around. We were both shouting and looking for him - checking the railway line, imagining he'd been abducted by a passing paedophile. It was only about five minutes but seemed like a lifetime.

The little b*gger was hiding underneath a trailer by the side of the house - giggling to himself. Didn't know whether to strangle him or hug him...
