Behaviour/development

Have the holidays been long enough now in your house too?

Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with my Ds's and I love the opportunity to do things that there's never usually time for, but this week their behaviour (esp ds1 who will start Juniors next week) has been atrocious. I think they're as ready to go back to school as I am for them to go.

we have had 7 weeks already and this week DD1 (6) behaviour has really been getting me down whereas the first 6 weeks were great. The novelty for all 3 of us is wearing off and they are even sick of swimming/park/baking horrible cakes. Roll on Sep 8 (the crappy weather hasn't helped either)

ds1 wants to go back but none of the rest of us do.

I want some more sun

Last week of holidays
I was feeling glum
Couldn't wait for school to start
Neither could my mum

Now we've been back a week
I could do with a breather
I can't wait for the holidays
My teacher says she can't either

I'm a mum and a teacher and this poem always makes me smile

For me, it depends almost entirely on whether the sun is in or out. Nice day - it's a joy (especially if the alternative is sitting in an office). But this "summer", well, there hasn't been one has there? Am thinking I may as well get a job.

No, not long enough. We've had fantastic holidays and I wish they were longer.

Great poem callsigncharlie, reminds me of my nana's favourite saying when the DDs are getting me down

"the days are long but the years are short"

First 4 weeks were great and then we went away for a week, which was also good, although we could have done with better weather. It's just this week, the behaviour has been rubbish. Agree the sun shining helps a lot.

DH is home too, which doesn't help, as he winds DS1 up. Also DS1 really needs routine, which all goes to pot when DH is here (poor DH just by being here he's in the wrong)

In desperation DH has taken them to see Clone Wars this afternoon (he's not all bad) and I've selflessly agreed to stay home and catch up on the holiday ironing, but I seem to be here instead

All that light sabering won't help the behaviour when they get back of course, but at least it's quiet here now.
