My daughter, 3 years old next month, is constantly rubbing and pushing on her genitals... she has been doing it for while now, but recently she is doing it all of the time.

is this normal? will she just stop or should i be trying to make her stop!? we dont want to tell her off or make it out to be a naughty thing, but its not very nice and i am also worried that she will make herself red and sore? i know little boys sometimes play around with themselvs once they discover it... is this just the same thing!??

any advice?

Normal, especially when they are finally potty trained and have free access.

I generally try and distract or try to give her something else to do with her hands.

I would say normal.

Have you recently changed soaps or washing powder though? Just wondering if it could be irritating her. Have you checked for thrush?

If it's just genrally pushing and prodding then I'd leave her to it but try maybe saying something to discourage it in puiblic but I reckon it sounds quite normal!

My dd turned 3 just a few weeks ago and i have noticed her doing the same thing. could be related to the potty trained thing (though has been a few months now) or maybe just the age???
