Potty training early days - what's the form on going out?

DS1, just turned 3, started potty training on Monday and has got it OK around the house. Today I plan to take him to local park and shop for a treat, ds2, 4 mths in tow. There's 1 loo only which we might be able to use. If he says he needs to go, I'd plan to whip him behind a bush and learn to wee there. Street gutter if desperate. Does this sound OK? As well as wipes and changes of clothes am also taking bags in case he poos to doggy bag it up, though he has only ever poo'd at home before.

Any advice, thoughts, experience? Many thanks.

Sounds good to me. A word of warning though - DS is now obsessed about weeing on the grass (demanded to go outside in the rain last night to do it)after an emergency park wee.

If you have room in the buggy, a potty might be good in case of poo

You stick your knee in the small of their back to push their hips forward so they don't wee on their feet, btw. Once they get good at weeing standing up, boys are so much easier.

Possibly insist that he has a wee in the park before you get to the shop, otherwise he'll be desperate when you're in the queue ...
