Beyond the Treasure Basket - What Next?

Sort of leading on from the AIBU thread I started about MILs buying too many presents, I was wondering what those of you who'd done Treasure Baskets with your LOs were doing now they are older?

My ds is now 17months, and I'd like to do something a bit different with him, like the TBs.
Any ideas?

Have you done sensory play such as gloop, ice cubes, sand, shaving foam etc with him?

MrsBadger Tue 29-Jul-08 16:22:25

have you got the Myriad catalogue?

Fadge Tue 29-Jul-08 16:24:22

I will second messy stuff, jelly, cold spaghetti, paint on a tray with clingfilm over it to squish in, porridge oats in a bowl with measuring cups to pour

yy to interesting rubbish

bits of wood
those enamelled tin mugs
tins and boxes to take things in and out of
clothes pegs

MrsBadger Tue 29-Jul-08 16:35:31

oh and masses of the same thing eg pingpong balls, clothes pegs, loo rolls
(this was on one of the heuristic threads [rummages])
here at 18:31:10 and here

FrannyandZooey Tue 29-Jul-08 17:27:52

oh I was going to come on and give you all the links but clever people have already done it
I still have the Document if anyone wants it

allergictohousework Tue 29-Jul-08 20:03:39

FrannyandZooey what is your Document please, and may I have a copy? email required?

MrsBadger Wed 30-Jul-08 08:59:04

oh Franny you will know this

if I had picked up 50 pine cones ready for dd's 'Beyond The Wnaky Basket' play, what would be the best way to ensure they are free of loofahs and similar wildlife before bringing them into the otherwise pristine mildly tidy house?

If it was only a handful I'd sling them in without second though but the huge sack I've got makes me nervous...

FrannyandZooey Wed 30-Jul-08 10:04:38

mrsb they will have lots of loofahs in yes
if you leave them in the sun they will all open out, then you could wash them in hot soapy water and give them a good shake etc
leave to dry in sun again
should be fine

email frannyandzooey @ india dot com for more info on treasure baskets or beyond (toddler heuristic play)

MrsBadger Wed 30-Jul-08 10:26:26

bucket of soapy water it is then

I was vaguely remembering someone sterilising a birds' nest in the oven for a nature table...

Thanks for all the ideas!

Am particularly delighted to have a viable excuse for collecting rubbish now :O
