9 month old - sleep problems

My 9 month old has never been a great sleeper - never gone through the night, but am trying to improve things now that other factors that were waking him, such as eczema, are getting better.

He goes to bed fine - at about 7.30 - he's in a good routine and can settle himself to sleep quite well although sometimes still falls asleep while getting his bed time bf.

Tried the last couple of nights to not feed him till at least 1am cause i know he should be able to go much longer without milk now, and dh has been settling him instead of me but each time its taking at least 15 mins of shhing etc till he falls asleep.

he was swaddled for quite a while as he is his own worst enemy with his hands - they flail about and wake him up, and he scratches lots. his hands are in mitts to stop him hurting himself but once he wakes and starts scratching, he cant get himself back to sleep.

Any advice please?

Me, I like a quiet life. I'd bf him in the night when he wants it.

(also because one can never tell how empty another person's tummy is...)

i have been doing that up to now for pretty much that reason, but am now starting to be so tired during the day, that i think its time to do something.

just dont know how to control the flailing hands.
