Quick survey: how long from first steps to properly walking?

DS took his first steps about 3/4 weeks ago, then nothing for a week or two, since then he will occasionally do one or two steps (yesterday he did five) and can walk quite happily holding one or two hands but doesn't seem bothered about properly walking. Just curious how long it usually takes before they're confident enough to walk alone. He is 14mo btw.

About a day for ds, but he was cruising for a long time beforehand.

He took two steps in the morning when he was 13/14 months, and stopped himself from falling by catching hold of an airer that I had just put clean washing on with filthy hands. By that evening he was walking quite confidently, but in an ET style waddle with his hands to the side. Within a week he was walking like Frakenstein's monster (hands to the front). It was another few weeks before he carry anything, or bend to pick something up.

Funnily, he didn't learn to stand up for at least another 2 months, so if he fell he had to crawl to a piece of furniture and pull himself up.

first steps (cruising) at 9months, proper walking at 12m - he had a few days of a few steps only, then was off.

My DS2 didn't walk till 14 and a half months and it took 2 weeks from first couple of steps to walking properly. Now you can't bloody stop him!

Ds is nearly 14mths, and has been cruising since 8mths. He has been walking round the living room since his first birthday, just toddling from sofa to sofa, but he still finds it quicker to crawl. Today he started walking quite a long way on his own, but I think it will be another week or so before he is really confident.

DD took her first steps at 11 mo but walking confidently more than a few steps took about 6 weeks.

Nothing until 20 months, then 2 steps one day and then up and down the kitchen the next!
