Ok, so it is early minutes (he's been in there about half an hour), but it seems to be working.

DH spent his afternoon at work fashioning slots - they have been screwed into the door frame and our second gate slotted in. He even thought to put in a pin so that He Of Great Strength couldn't just lift the gate up and off.

I can't take photos, batteries dead at the moment but I'll get some up tomorrow hopefully.

He isn't asleep, he is still having the odd yell, but the frenzy of being shut in completely has gone.

Hurrah!

How long before he works out how to climb over the top and splats the high drop on the other side?

It doesn't take them long to work out how to vault over the stair gates!

I don't like them at the top of the stairs for exactly that reason - they make the drop down the stairs even higher!

It is on the bedroom door belgo (our walls crumble and it was safer to have no gate on stairs than one that could give out at any minute), and was meant to stop them wandering at night, but he mastered climbing over it a lot younger than I expected

The new set up Jas (I really will take photos at bedtime) has slots above the original gate so a second one stands above the first - it is nearly a full door of gate

Just shutting the bedroom door made him hysterical, but with a gate and being able to see out he just does angry yelling for a few mins then gives up and goes to bed

It worked!!!

Took it off about 10ish when DD was lifted so there is no struggling with it half asleep in case of fire - they can both get out of one on its own, and we can get in easily so it is much safer with single height.
