My LO is 9.5 weeks and eating/sucking his hands all of a sudden.

Is this normal? He used to do it a little when he was hungry but now he seems to do it all the time when he can't be hungry. Is it comfort?

Thanks

my 12 week old does this too. i think it's fairly normal. she seems very comforted by this. she actually fell asleep with her hand in her mouth a few days ago.

Some children do and some don't.

DD1 never has put her hands/fingers in her mouth neither did she chew on toys, now DD2 form day one has somethink fingers, hands now at 8mths anything she can find.

She likes to chew on dh toes when he comes in from work (bleugh) i can stand the smell of his feet from the other side of the room.

this is completely normal and you'll prob find he is comforted by doing this. This is just the start of him becoming aware of his hands, it's a very healthy sign.
