My dd1 is a sensitive little soul, she has always seemed mature for her age, she found it hard to settle at pre school, liked the more structured things but always seemed a bit out of her depth with the more free play type of things, and she also is very sensitive to loud noises. Started reception in sept, i was dreading it but she settled quickly and loved it,however the last 2 wks she has reverted back, nothing has happened at school or at home. She has had to be taken off of me by her teacher, she literally sobs and its pitifull. She has become so clingy and self esteem and confidence is zero, what can i do to get her back to where she was emotionally ? Anyone been through this or can offer words of wisdom, id be so grateful.

I think someone will hopefully come along with a link to the 'Highly Sensitive Child' info, it sounds like your dd is a sensitive child and you might find that info worth a look. Sorry but I don't have a link myself but have seen it discussed on here.

Has she been off sick from school? Or is it possible that she is going down with a virus? My ds had a phase like this in reception, around the time of a nasty virus, and I think he just couldn't cope with the separation bit when he was so under the weather. He was ok apparently once left but it was just that separation time. It is awful for you and I really sympathise as I know how truly gut wrenching it is to leave a sobbing child

I'm sure her teacher is comforting her though (providing they are a nice teacher) as they are used to giving cuddles, etc in reception.

I can only suggest keeping strong and riding it out - it will come to an end. If it helps, my ds had a very challenging time in reception but has never had a single tear on being left in year one....
