Speech Therapy...what to expect

DD has her first Speech Therapy session next week and I was just wondering how to prepare her for it. What is likely to happen in the session, what will she have to do? DD will be 3 in a few months and has phonological delay. She is 25% understandable by others (90% to us). She is very bright (1000+ words 12+word sentences at 24months) yet no one can understand what she says except close family. I have spent the last 2+yrs translating everything she says. Somewhere along the line I feel I have failed her, we speak clearly and slowly, emphasis initial sounds (her main problem are blends e.g sp, sh, dr, pl etc). I don't know what else we can do. The HV suggested more TV, but DD isn't interested.
She is a shy child who isn't keen on speaking to strangers, partly because people often say in front of her "what did she say" or "can you understand her".
I would just like to prepare her little so she knows what to expect next week at her session.
Many thanks
