14 month old is hungry but won't eat

I'm not sure what to do - and the answer is probably teething but this has been going on for about a month or 2 now.

My son has always been a good eater, and on some occasions when he was around 9-12 months old I was worried that he was eating so much and drinking too much milk! But now its the opposite. At breakfast he does eat all his weetabix but that is only after he has turned his head away and I force it in his mouth to give him the taste so he remembers he likes it. At lunch - well he just turns away constantly and I can't remember the last time he had a full lunchtime meal. If he doesn't have it then, he gets hungry at about 3 o'clock so I offer him dried fruit (which he eats) but at around 5ish he just screams blue murder whenever I sit him in his highchair and nearly chokes with anger - and I'm not sure if he's really hungry for not eating all day or just doesnt' want to eat. . I've tried finger foods at lunch but he just chucks it all on the floor and nothing goes in his mouth. He will however, eat grapes and dried prunes, but that's it. It upsets me as I know he hasn't eaten properly since breakfast and I'm at my whits end! Please can someone advise me or empathise!

Ahhh hadie. I will be watching this with much interest as this is something my 1 year old has just started doing too. I've also posted another thread this evening as things are getting to me at the moment. So, sorry, but no advice, just know what you're going through!

my 15 month old DD can be the same. Some days she will hardly eat, occasionally she eats lots. I find it helps to read a book with her in her highchair and point at pictures while she is eating, then she seems to forget to refuse the food! She is getting her first molars though, and sometimes food obviously hurts her..maybe your son is getting them too?

I was thinking that - he is terrible when he gets teeth. He's just got over Chicken Pox and now he is really grumpy but I still can't tell what it is. He never puts things in his mouth (let alone food) or dribble so its really hard for me to tell if he's teething or not.

Well, if you can get a peek in, the molars are quite obvious, she has had huge lumps under her gums about halfway back for AGES!

Sorry for the delay hadie, last night ended badly with dd screaming every time I put her in the cot. My thread is called "I don't even know my one year old!!!" but so far have only had one response, think because there have been quite a few of these recently!
